Signs your iPad screen needs replacement
iPad screens are tough, but they’re not indestructible. Here’s when you should bring it in:
- Visible cracks or chips — Even small cracks can spread over time, especially on iPads that travel in bags or get handed to kids. Cracks also compromise the seal that keeps dust and moisture out.
- Touch dead zones — If parts of the screen stop responding to touch or register the wrong location, the digitizer is damaged. This is especially common after drops that land on a corner.

iPad screen repair vs. replacement: what’s the difference?
On standard iPads (non-Pro), the glass digitizer and the LCD panel are separate layers. Sometimes only the top glass is cracked while the LCD underneath still works perfectly. In these cases, we replace just the glass assembly, which keeps the cost lower.
On iPad Pro and newer iPad Air models, the display is a fused unit — glass, digitizer, and LCD are bonded together. When the glass cracks, the entire display assembly needs to be replaced. This is why Pro model repairs cost more, but you’re getting a complete new display that matches the original quality.
